Soho Beach House - Apollo Bay

Lovely house in a great location but don't take your dog/s as fencing isn't secure. Positive: The house itself is very nice, clean and well maintained generally. Kitchen was lovely, plenty of space and very light and airy lounge room and upstairs area. Very close walking distance to the beach and lots of food options, most places offering outdoor seating to take your dog with you. Nice balcony and chairs to sit on to enjoy the fresh air. Comfy beds and nice big bath. Negative: A lot of spiders in the corners of the rooms and cobwebs that needed cleaning away. The oven was filthy and wasn't working while we were there, an error code kept coming up and wouldn't turn on. There is a second smaller convection oven which seems to be the replacement and worked fine. No cooling or fans in the bedrooms. No grass in the outdoor backyard area, just decking and compacted sand, keep in mind for your dogs as we had to make trips to the front nature strip every time she needed to go out. Big problem with the outdoor area as fences aren't secure for dogs. On first glance, they were ok, but rocks between the panels (there were gaps), and metal ties/cable ties holding the panels together were odd but I didn't question it. Our dog escaped very easily the first time we went out without her, as the panels were rotted out steel posts easy pushed out by a smart dog, and incredibly lucky she didn't make it far or to the main road (only a block away) when someone found her and called me. When addressed with the property manager, it was discussed with me promptly, organised for the following day, then cancelled the same night after they sent someone out to 'fix' it, which was a plastic cable tie wrapped loosely around the wrong area, and a recycle bin put in front of one panel which did nothing. We did our best to fix it (which is the photos attached) by moving rocks around which had already been put there by others before us. Their suggestion was to keep the dog inside which was fine for an hour, but definitely not for all day trips like we wanted to do. Given we stayed 7 days and 6 nights and had to keep our dog with us, changing our plans to explore the region, really disappointed as this not only spoilt our holiday, but had we known, I'd have chosen a different property. Very expensive stay considering no secure outdoor area which was important to us.

A relaxing, comfortable and light filled accommodation. Very enjoyable stay. Positive: Location is ideal as you can walk to the beach, restaurants, shops, supermarket. Didn't move the car for the whole week. Very clean accomodation and quite comfortable. Lovely living area and bathrooms well appointed. Negative: A small thing, but some newer towels in the bathrooms would elevate the experience.
